Pakistanis have no doubt the potential to make the world wonder by their great deeds and marvelous works. One of them is Waheen Akhtar hailing from Mandi Bahaudin Pakistan.
Waheed Akhter has made all Pakistan nation proud by becoming the first Pakistani national to obtain the rank of Captain in the New York Police Department. He is the first individual in the whole history of the department.
He migrated to the US in the year 1998. He was lucky enough to get a Diversity Lottery Visa to USA. Initially, he worked for many petty jobs before joining the NYPD.
He worked with sheer dedications and hard work when finally he became the one to make his family and friends proud of, Waheed said in a media interview!
Of course America is a land of opportunities, however, I had never dreamed to come to US and settle here. I worked at grocery shop, gas station and also ran yellow cab here, and completed my education. Later I joined the police force.
Waheed Akhtar formally joined the police department in January 2005. Before that he shifted many jobs and completed his education. His motivation for his decision to join the NYPD are his father and brother, who are also policemen, albeit in Pakistan.
My father was Sub Inspector in Punjab police, my brother is also in police department so I decided to join police force here in US.
Akhtar, is a fathers four children and an inspirational Pakistani. He received his promotion to Sergeant in 2010, after serving as a Police Officer in the Transit District 34.
He became the part of the police force’s Internal Affairs Bureau after being Sergeant and had a supervisory role in the 77 Pct.
Subsequently, he achieved the position of Lieutenant, as part of the 83 Pct. Presently, he is promoted to the Captain, serves in the Organized Crime Control Bureau.
